3 ways to use bananas

PEEL IT AND EAT IT 😉 Kidding… We won’t count this one. But seriously, a cheap easy pre-workout snack is 1-2 bananas with 25-30g protein powder mixed with water. Don’t fuss around with adding fats like nut butter or milk as it will impact digestion meaning it’s more likely you will need additional time to let your food settle pre-workout.

BANANA, BLUEBERRY, PEANUT BUTTER SMOOTHIE: Throw 1 frozen banana into a blender along with 25-30g protein powder, a dessert spoon of peanut butter, and a handful of both spinach and blueberries. Add a little milk or milk alternative and blitz for 10-15 seconds. Add a little more milk to get the right consistency and blitz again.

BANANA PANCAKES: Throw 1 banana, 2-3 eggs, ½ cup of oats, some cinnamon and nutmeg into a blender and blitz to make a pancake batter. Meanwhile, heat a non-stick frypan over medium heat. Spray with a little olive oil and then gently pour in batter to make small american style pancakes. Fry for 1-2 mins each side in batches of 4-6. Stack ’em and serve topped with skyr style yoghurt, fresh berries, walnuts and raw honey or maple syrup.

CHOC BANANA & PEANUT BUTTER MUG CAKE: Spray a large coffee mug with some olive oil, mash a banana in the mug, and then add a serving of whey, ¼ tsp baking powder, some dark chocolate, tsp peanut butter, and a splash of milk to make a batter consistency. Microwave on high for 60-75 seconds. Top with more nut butter ice cream or frozen yoghurt for a treat.
